Cony student to be among those honored at Inclusion Celebration

AUGUSTA – Caleb Richardson, a student at Cony High School, will be among those honored by the Maine Developmental Disabilities Council at its third annual Inclusion Celebration in the Hall of Flags at the State House Wednesday, April 25.
The event celebrates the efforts of high school juniors and seniors who created essays and artworks reflecting on the meaning of full inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities in their communities.

This year, MDDC will also honor U.S. Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, for advocacy for those with disabilities and for their full inclusion in Maine communities.
State Sen. Joyce Maker, R-Calais, and State Rep. Richard Farnsworth, D- Portland, will be on hand to recognize students who have demonstrated exceptional and creative understanding of multiple dimensions of inclusion.
Two educators, Tom Wells from Cony High School, Augusta, and Michelle Birkenshaw from Narraguagus High School, Cherryfield, will also be recognized for their encouragement and support, as well as Hodgdon and Freeport high schools for their extraordinary student participation.
Besides Richardson, students honored will be Sophia DeSchiffart, Narraguagus High School; Taylor Files, Windham High School; Corilie Green, Freeport High School; Raveena Angotti, Hodgdon High School; McKenna Troast, Freeport High School; Lily Goltz, Lincoln Academy; and Alexander Les, Freeport High School.
