TURNER — Girl Scout Troop 516 will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 28, at Turner Public Library. The troop is working toward earning their Bronze Service Award by helping to familiarize residents with the collection and services offered by the library.
All residents of Turner, Leeds, and Greene, as well as all students and employees of School Administrative District 52 are eligible for free library cards.
For those who do not fall within the library’s patron areas, the library offers cards for a $5 yearly contribution.
The library offers a large collection of adult, young adult, and juvenile fiction and non-fiction books, children’s picture books and beginning readers, and DVDs. The library also loans out equipment for gardening, spinning, and weaving, musical instruments, a telescope, and microscope and slides, and a basic toolkit for home repair. Patrons will find computers with free internet access, printing services, and a makers space with educational and recreational activities.
Troop 516 will be available during the event to show current and perspective patrons around the library and demonstrate the different activities.
