LEWISTON — Lewiston Adult Education students will put on a live performance later this month featuring the material they wrote as part of a six-week Standup Comedy Workshop.
The show will be at 6 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Guthrie’s Restaurant & Cafe, 115 Middle St. It will be hosted by Maine Event Comedy producer, Mark Turcotte, and is open to the public at no charge.
It is the third annual performance by Lewiston Adult Education students at Guthrie’s. The show serves as the students’ final exam for the workshop. Professional comedian Dawn Hartill taught the class.
“It was my pleasure to share my experience and help guide the work of these aspiring comedians. They have worked very hard and I am so proud of each and every one of them,” Hartill said.
The students, who have careers in a variety of fields including writing, banking, information technology and actuarial support, have worked with Hartill to develop a solid stand-up comedy routine. They focused on premise, punchlines and stage presence.
