MECHANIC FALLS — Regional School Unit 16 — encompassing the communities of Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland — will offer several courses in May. Classes range from photography, trail systems and more.
In “Digital Photography-Framing Your Subject,” students will learn how to complement and highlight a subject for best composition. Weather permitting, much of this class will be spent outside. It will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, and the cost is $12.
Environmental Toxins and Their Impact — How do the toxins in the world around us impact our risk of cancer? Maureen Higgins, from the Dempsey Center, will share information to help with informed choices. Free, but registration in advance required. 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 7.
Geocaching — What exactly are geocaches and travel bugs? Find out more about this popular outdoor treasure hunting activity. Bring your device to set up your own account on geocache.com if you’d like. 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 6 to 8 p.m. Cost is $12.
Poland’s Trails — Learn more about the hiking trail system being developed in Poland for recreation in the great outdoors. Includes descriptions of the trails, the flora and fauna that can be found there, a brief history, and opportunities to join other volunteers in their work. 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdsay, May 8. Cost is $5.
Other May classes include babysitter certification for youth ages 12 and up and Staying Home Alone for ages 8 to 11. RSU Adult Education also offers career exploration, college preparation, computer classes, diploma classes and HiSET testing.

For more information on additional classes and courses offered through RSU 16 adult education, visit the web site or call. Residency in RSU 16 is not a requirement to sign up for courses.
