ALBION — The ShineOnCass Easter Egg Hunt at Hart-to-Hart Farm & Educational Center has been rescheduled and reinvented, to become a new spring celebration.
The hunt had been scheduled for March 25, but winter weather has moved it to Sunday, April 22. Those attending can help welcome the farm’s new baby animals. It’s been redubbed the ShineOnCass Animal Baby Shower & Egg Hunt, and will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the farm at 16 Duck Pond Lane.
Those attending should bring a pet item to the “baby shower” to donate to the Humane Society Waterville Area in honor and memory of Cassidy Charette, who was a shelter volunteer. Children are asked to bring their own basket to collect hidden eggs on the farm. The egg hunt will begin at 2:30 p.m. for infants to 6-year-olds, followed by one for ages 7 to 12.
Those who attend may meet and welcome the new baby calves, goats, bunnies, sheep and other farm animals at the petting area. The event also includes farm games, crafts, face painting and a visit by the Easter Bunny. All are encouraged to wear boots and warm clothing to the event.
Hart-to-Hart Farm is a family owned and operated organic dairy farm offering a variety of educational programs for children, adults and families. Cassidy Charette, an Oakland teen who died in a hayride accident in 2014, was a long-time summer camper there. In 2015, farm owners Linda and Doug Hartkopf and the community helped build Cassidy’s Kitchen — an outdoor, three-season kitchen for educational programs.
Suggestions for baby shower donations to the humane society include the shelter’s most needed items — wood pellets for cat/kitty litter, dye free at foods (such as Purina Naturals) and canned food for kittens and cats, paté style, no fish please.
