Gray Extention to hear about ‘Maine’s first modern murder trial’

GRAY — The Gray Extension Homemaker Group will meet 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4,at the Gray Congregational Parish House, 11 Yarmouth Road.
Leonard L. Brooks, retired director of the Sabbathday Lake Shaker museum and library, will speak on “The George Knight Murder Trial.”

The case was a sensation when it occurred in the 1850s, involving the residents of several local towns, the Shakers, and other well-known Mainers. It has been called Maine’s first modern murder trial.
The event is free and open to the public.
