The Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad in Phillips has received a $2,000 preservation grant, presented Jan. 27 to general manager Al Houghton, left, by Dave Brown of the Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts at the Amherst Model Railroad Club Show in W. Springfield, Mass. The money will be used toward fabrication of new passenger coach trucks for Laconia coaches 5 and 6. Houghton is applying for additional grants from other sources.
