LIVERMORE FALLS — In 2014, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs state president’s project was elder abuse. She suggested clubs find a way in their communities to support her project. GFWC/Livermore Falls Women’s Club decided to make 25 afghans for clients in the Jay/Livermore/Livermore Falls area who are served by Meals on Wheels.
The last of the afghans were delivered to Meals on Wheels Feb. 15. Many in the club participated in the project, either by suppling the yarn, knitting squares or crocheting them together. The next meeting will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at Harris House — a 12-bed intermediate care facility for people with intellectual disabilities — 45 Brookside Ave. The staff at Harris House will provide lunch, and the group will hear from Diane Woods, a licensed social worker, and June Allen, activities coordinator. After the meeting, the club will tour the facility.
