AUGUSTA — U.S. News and World Report has ranked the University of Maine at Augusta in its list of the nation’s Best Online Bachelor’s Degree Programs. This is the sixth year that UMA has been named to this national list.
“This ranking by U.S. News and World Report is due to the extraordinary efforts of our faculty and staff in providing quality online programs and support for our students,” said UMA President Rebecca Wyke.
“UMA has a tradition of meeting students where they are, offering classes onsite, online, through video conference, Interactive Television, and at UMA Centers.”
The U.S. News & World Report bases its rankings on statistical data gathered from questionnaires about each institution’s online specific bachelor’s degree programs, according to a news release. The factors considered were faculty credentials and training, peer reputation, student services and technology and student engagement. More than 350 institutions across the country participated in the U.S. News and World Report survey.
UMA’s 12 online degree programs considered as part of this ranking were Applied Science, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Information and Library Sciences, Interdisciplinary Studies, Justice Studies, Liberal Studies, Mental Health and Human Services, Music: Contemporary and Popular, Public Administration and Social Sciences.
UMA also offers numerous individual courses in online formats as part of other degree program curricula.
“UMA delivers classes in various modalities because we understand that students need flexibility to meet the competing demands on their time,” said Joseph Szakas, UMA provost. “Our online classes and degree programs allow students to complete their college education while continuing to work and meet family obligations.”
