MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls adult education program, part of Regional School Unit 16, will offer a number of classes during the coming weeks.
Classes cover job and career support, computer skills and more.
Offerings include:
Career Exploration and Job Searching — Strategies, interview skills, resume writing, career aptitude and interest assessments as well as college exploration; six-week session, $50. By appointment.
Computer classes — A wide variety of classes, from basics to Microsoft and Google applications. Call or visit the website for more information. eight-week session, $75.
Hand-Stamped Cards –Make your own set of four easy but beautiful cards using rubber stamps. No experience necessary $12. March 6, 6 to 8 p.m.
Introduction to Self-Employment — Learn about the pros and cons of entrepreneurship, ways to manage risk, elements of a business plan, important financial pieces and steps needed for start-up. Free, but pre-registration is required. April 5, 6 to 8p.m.
Melt & Pour Soap Making — Two hours of fun and everything needed to make a colorful ‘loaf’ of soap. $24. March 26, 6-8pm.
Social Security — Learn investment strategies to help design the retirement you want, with the flexibility you need to help you handle unexpected events. $5. March 29, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Tips on Writing a Children’s Book — Learn strategies from author Tamra Wight on how to create interesting characters, map out solid plots and submit your work. $12. April 5, 6 to 8 p.m.
