AUBURN — The results of a recent study on sports tourism in Auburn will be unveiled at the City Council workshop to be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8.
The workshop will feature a presentation by Jason Paquin, general manager of Norway Savings Bank Arena and the leadership of Huddle Up Group a sports tourism consulting group from Arizona that was hired by the city in September.
Paquin and the team from Huddle Up will present a preliminary strategic plan, as well as a SWOT analysis, explaining the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats they identified during Huddle Up’s September visit to Auburn and subsequent stakeholder interviews.
“This is an exciting step in developing Auburn as a sports tourism destination in this region,” said Paquin, who also serves as the city’s sports tourism coordinator. “This is the culmination of our consultants’ findings, and I encourage residents to attend or watch the meeting online.”
The public can attend in person, tune in to Great Falls TV (available on Spectrum Cable Channel 1302), visit the city’s YouTube Channel (search for City of Auburn, Maine), or stream live at www.greatfallstv.net.
Local business leaders and residents are encouraged to attend a second presentation at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Auburn Hall (Council Chambers). Paquin and the Huddle Up team will be on hand to answer questions about the study and the report.
