NORWAY – Dr. Noemi LeFranc, of Western Maine Obstetrics and Gynecology, has recently earned board certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Timothy A. Churchill, president and chief executive officer of Western Maine Health announced.
After residency, a physician may seek certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. To become board certified, LeFranc had to pass a written test to demonstrate that she has obtained the special knowledge and skills required for medical and surgical care of women, according to a news release from Western Maine Health.
She also was required to have experience in treating women’s health care prior to the oral examination. An oral examination was given by a team of well-respected national experts; the exam tests the physician’s skills, knowledge and ability to treat different conditions.
LeFranc joined Western Maine OB/GYN, a department of Stephens Memorial Hospital, in July of 2016. She earned her medical degree The Florida State University College of Medicine and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency training at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in Florida.
