RANGELEY — David Miller of Portland has been named executive director of the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust.
Miller has served in the public and private sectors at various programs, fundraising and leadership levels, bringing a wealth of experience and perspective to the organization. Miller will fill the open position left after the trust’s previous executive director, Chris Devine, retired.
Miller’s resume includes more than 30 years of administration, management support and facilitation in the nonprofit sector.
He earned a master’s degree from the Fielding Institute in Organizational Design and Effectiveness. Since then, he has served as an affiliate faculty member at Regis University’s Masters for Non-Profit Management and has served as a board member with several nonprofit organizations.
He is the co-founder of Educo International Alliance — an alliance of non-governmental organizations focused on wilderness-based youth development. Prior to this appointment, Miller was self-employed as an organizational consultant and executive coach, co-designing and facilitating the development of conservation organizations.
In his new role, Miller will be responsible for working with the board to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan. In addition, he will oversee day-to-day operations, development, financial management and, most importantly, engaging with the trust’s membership.
He and his wife, Linda Aldrich, will manage time between their home in Portland and Rangeley for the near future. She is an adjunct professor at Southern Maine Community College and a poet. Miller has two adult children — Jennifer is in her first year of residency with a focus on internal medicine in Boise, Idaho, and his son, Aubrey, teaches at the University of Otago in New Zealand.
