Auburn Public Library hosts fifth annual Teen Life Skills Series

Dec. 292017

AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will present its fifth annual Teen Life Skills Series, beginning Jan. 9.

The weekly workshops in January cover healthy eating and nutrition. February will cover healthy relationships, March and April will focus on job searching and money tips.

Sessions in “10 Tips for Teens” are 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30, in the library’s Androscoggin Community Room.
Participants will learn about healthy eating, including how to add more fruits and vegetables to their diet while learning basic cooking skills. At each class, teens will make and eat a recipe and play games (which will include prizes).

Healthy Androscoggin is the library’s partner in the series.

Registration is requested for planning purposes. Teens may register by calling 207-333-6640, ext. 4 – or visiting www.auburnpubliclibrary.org (click the Events tab at the top of the page, and scroll to the program). Although teens need not register for all four, they are encouraged to do so.

February sessions are 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 6, 13, and 27. During the month, in honor of Dating Violence Awareness Month, we will welcome educators from Safe Voices and the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services. They will offer programs designed to educate teens about healthy relationships.

March and April programs will cover job searching (including applying and interviewing) and will conclude with Money Smart Week (April 21-28), offering programs geared toward teaching appropriate budgeting and money management skills.

The programs are designed for teens ages 12-18. For more information, visit www.auburnpubliclibrary.org, call 207-333-6640 (ext. 4), or email dwallace@auburnpubliclibrary.org.
