AUBURN — The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Lunch Club will host two guest speakers at upcoming meetings held Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. at The Village Inn restaurant, 165 High St.
Lewiston Police Officer Joseph Philippon will be the guest speaker Dec. 28, focusing on the response to the opioid addiction epidemic. Philippon, who holds a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice, joined the Lewiston Police Department in 2005. He is assigned to the department’s Community Resource Team, working toward strengthening community partnerships, identifying areas to improve service and recruitment, overseeing several enforcement and outreach programs for the department.
Stephanie Gelinas will be the guest speaker Jan. 4; she is the founder and executive director of Sandcastle Clinical and Educational Services and LA Hearing Center in Lewiston, practicing speech and language pathology for 33 years.
A graduate of University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in elementary education and speech correction, she earned her master’s degree in communication sciences from Syracuse University in 1986. Ten years later, she opened Sandcastle, where a team of 50 professionals focuses on early detection, diagnosis and intervention, both clinically and educationally.
Born and raised in Lewiston, Gelinas is the immediate past president of the LA Metro Chamber of Commerce board of directors, past president of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club, serves on the Health Advisory Committee for Promise Early Education Center and is on the board of directors for Tri-County Mental Health Services.
She enjoys spending time with her husband Gerry, six children and eight grandchildren. Her passions include the outdoors, traveling and participating in triathlons.
