ELLSWORTH — The Colonial Theater in Augusta is one of four buildings that received a grant in 2017 for preservation or restoration of historic buildings from The Belvedere Historic Preservation Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
The fund has awarded 22 grants that total $256,400 to support the preservation or restoration of historic buildings statewide.
Colonial Theater Inc., which is restoring the historic theater on Water Street, received a grant of $15,000 to restore the theater subfloor in September.
Other grant recipients in 2017 included Cary Library in Houlton; Lubec Landmarks, Lubec; and the Maine Irish Heritage Center, Portland.
