LEWISTON — The Gendron Franco Center will be holding a New Year’s Eve celebration to ring in 2018 Sunday, Dec. 31, beginning at 7 p.m. at the center, 46 Cedar St.
The area’s premier New Year’s event features a buffet dinner, prepared by the center’s staff and served from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. After that, guests will be able to dance to the music of “The Substitutes” — a Portland-based band — from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Critics refer to “The Substitutes” as “5-pieces of pure rock ‘n’ roll charisma that people seem to dig.” Just before midnight, all guests will elevate to the magnificent Performance Hall for the Times Square countdown to 2018 on the big screen, with its own “balloon drop,” champagne toast at midnight, and the drawing of a giant New Year’s L/A Prize.
Tickets are $50 per guest, which are all inclusive. Raffles will be held — including chances to enter the grand-prize drawing worth more than $1,000 — and overnight parking, if needed, will be available.
The meal will include appetizers, salad, two main course choices — roasted Angus beef tenderloin or baked Atlantic salmon — seasoned rice, roasted winter vegetables and assorted desserts. A cash bar will be open throughout the evening.
