Western Maine Health welcomes new board member

NORWAY — Pat Weigel, chairwoman of the Western Maine Health Board of Trustees, recognized outgoing members David Preble and Lynn Hamper for their dedicated service at the October meeting of the board.

Both members joined the board in 2008; Preble also served as chairman from January 2015 to October 2016.

At the November meeting. Ryan Knapp, M.D., of Norway, was named to the Western Maine Health Board for an initial three-year term.

Knapp earned a medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School and completed his emergency medicine residency training at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minnesota.

Before joining Stephens Memorial in May 2016, he served as medical director of the Emergency Department at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., where he was a member of the medical staff from 2009 to May 2016. He also held an appointment as assistant professor of medicine at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, in Hanover, N.H.

Knapp and wife, Kelli, are both Maine natives. He is from Rumford and she is from Windham. They have two children and live in Norway. Kelli teaches at Guy E. Rowe School.
