AUGUSTA — The Viles Arboretum is inviting the public to take advantage of the variety of volunteer opportunities at the site, at 153 Hospital St.
The arboretum has a large schedule of programs, events, land management, much of it accomplished with help from more than 180 volunteers, the organization said in a news release.
Volunteers can help while also learning more about the arboretum, and meeting others with similar interests.
Some of the opportunities include:
* Assembling mailings;
* Pruning trees and shrubs;
* Installing new blue bird houses and cleaning out existing ones;
* Preparing food for events;
* Watering collection of trees and other plants in the Visitors Center;
* Walking the trail system and greeting hikers and dog walkers;
* Being a weekend ambassador and membership solicitor on key hours during the weekend;
* Helping organize and manage farmers market (indoors and outdoors);
* Helping with the Table Tour 2018 fundraiser (Super Bowl Sunday) event.
