Lewiston, Auburn Festival of Lights celebration to be Nov. 25

LEWISTON — This is still time to enter a float in the Twin Cities Holiday Celebration Festival of Lights parade, which will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25.

The parade, which begins in Lewiston and ends in Auburn, will include floats, trucks, walking groups, music and lights. To enter a float, fill out an application at www.auburnmaine.gov or www.lewistonmaine.gov.

The parade route begins at the staging area on Park Street in Lewiston (near the parking garage) and goes the “wrong way” up Park Street, proceeds to Main Street, goes the wrong way down Lisbon Street, turns right onto Chestnut Street, proceeds to New Auburn, goes down Auburn’s Main Street and ends at Auburn’s Festival Plaza.
The parade is part of an afternoon and evening of activities in both cities.
Lewiston’s schedule:
3:30 p.m.: “A Look at the Nutcracker” by the Dance Center, Lewiston Public Library.
5 p.m.: Santa Claus lights the Lewiston Christmas tree, Kennedy Park.
5:05 p.m.: Free photos with Santa, free mittens and snacks.
6 p.m. Parade begins.
Auburn’s schedule:
5 p.m.: Story Time, Auburn Public Library.
5:30 p.m.: Holiday music, Dionne Entertainment.
5:30 p.m.: Free horse and wagon rides.
7 p.m. Parade arrives, Festival Plaza.
7:05 p.m.: Lighting of Auburn tree and menorah, sing-along and free photos with Santa; window and float decorating winners; free dental bags, Maple Way Dental Care; free mittens and Dunkin’ Donuts.
