LIVERMORE FALLS — The GFWC/Livermore Falls Women’s Club met recently with the state and district presidents in attendance. The room was decorated with a harvest/Halloween theme. There were 23 guests and members in attendance. The members voted to have the proceeds of the November election bake sale go to AYS (Area Youth Sports) and the June election bake sale go to the Livermore Phoenix Pantry.
Eight members — Ruth Gammon, Muriel Bowerman, Connie Fournier, Christine Fournier, Susan Sylvester, Barbara Letalien, Ghislaine Berube and Ellen Young — attended the District 2 conference Oct. 28 at the Margret Chase Smith Library in Skowhegan. The guest speaker for the conference was Donna Strickler, executive director of the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center, speaking on human trafficking in Maine.
The next meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m. at the Main-Land building. Guest speaker will be Laura Quinn, from Healthy Family Coalition, speaking on nutrition.
Please get out, vote and support the LFWC bake sale to benefit AYS. The club is affiliated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. GFWC was originally established in 1890 as a means of self-education and personal and professional development for women.
