Auburn Fire Department gets grant for training system

AUBURN — The Auburn Fire Department has been awarded a Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant in the amount of $16,150 for the purchase of a BullsEye Laser-Driven Fire Extinguisher Training System.
The $16,150 grant to the Auburn Fire Department covers 100 percent of the total cost of the system.
The digital fire extinguisher training system uses digital flames to simulate various types of fires. It recognizes which type of extinguisher the trainee is using and senses where the user aims and sweeps the laser-training extinguisher.

With the system, the Auburn Fire Department will be able to perform fire extinguisher training indoors, with greater ease and less expense.
“The Auburn Fire Department is grateful for the support of Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and considers this award to be an honor,” said Auburn’s fire inspector/fire investigator Dave O’Connell.
“Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has given the Auburn Fire Department the opportunity and the necessary tools to help us educate our citizens about fire extinguisher safety.”
