FARMINGTON — Woodlands Senior Living, a Maine-based and family-owned organization providing assisted living and memory care to Maine seniors, celebrated the grand opening of its newest memory care community, Woodlands Memory Care of Farmington, Sept. 26.
The specialized assisted living community provides personal care, services, and programming for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
The opening of the Farmington location marks the 12th senior living community and the seventh memory care-specific location in Maine for the organization — and the first for residents and families — in Franklin County.
“This facility joins a local health care system with a long and proud history. It’s exciting to have this level of professional memory care in our community,” said Farmington Town Manager Richard Davis in a news release.
“This is what we need,” said Gov. Paul LePage in the release, referring to the access to this type of care in rural communities like Farmington. “We are the oldest state in America, so it’s very important we pay attention to our seniors. Woodlands’ care and commitment to Maine people is profound. Woodlands cares for Maine families…and Maine families have come to trust Woodlands.”
In addition to LePage and Davis, Executive Director of the Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association Laurie Trenholm, representatives from Sen. Angus King and U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin, as well as Woodlands Senior Living owners were in attendance.
Woodlands Memory Care of Farmington, 175 Knowlton Corner Road, is a 20,000 square-foot community designed exclusively to address the needs of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related memory impairment that will house 36 residents.
An expanded second phase, including assisted living and private residence apartments, is anticipated for he fall of 2018.
