EAST DIXFIELD — Hailee Rowe, of Phillips, was awarded this year’s youth scholarship from the Countryfolk Music Theatre & Museum. Larry Bisbee, owner of the East Dixfield museum made the announcement Oct. 9.
Rowe, 17, a junior at Mt. Abram High School in Salem, plays guitar and ukulele and is also a songwriter.
She’s performed in the Madison Idol competition, Farmington Has Talent, and was a member of Sandy River Players “Peter Pan” cast. Bisbee said she also sang the national anthem at the 2017 Mt. Abram graduation.
The Countryfolk Music Theatre & Museum has been offering musicians and songwriters an opportunity to showcase their talents for the past 18 years, Bisbee said in a news release. He said the youth music award was made possible this year through spectator contributions and donations for the film “Barefoot Country Girl.” “After all the years of offering weekend music, we now only hold one day of music, with a barbecue for musicians, their families, and friends of Countryfolk,” he said. “This year we fed 140 folks that included 59 musicians and several local artists who showed their work.”
“We are appreciative of her creative abilities and hope our small contribution will encourage her in some way in her musical endeavors,” Bisbee said. He did not disclose the amount of the scholarship.
