Western Maine team walks for Derek in NAMI event

A team from Western Maine recently participated in the 15th annual NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Walk last month in honor of Derek Adams, son of Dottie and Herb Adams of Hanover. Derek, who has been diagnosed with a mental illness, has been missing since Dec 29, 2016, despite ongoing efforts by state and county law enforcement authorities, the Maine Warden Service, and volunteer search parties to find him. Thirty-one walkers from the towns of Hanover, Rumford, Mexico, Farmington, Wilton, Raymond, Gray, Woodstock, Otisfield and Portland joined the Adams family. Team captain, Dottie Adams, a dedicated NAMI volunteer, and her family thank all those who showed their support by walking with the team and raising funds to support the Western Mountains affiliate of this national organization. The walk took place at Spring Point Lighthouse on the campus of Southern Maine Community College in South Portland. (Submitted photo)
