A colorful group takes off at the start of the Friends of Cumston Hall 2017 AppleFest 5K race in front of Cumston Hall in Monmouth on Saturday, Sept. 30. Runners, joggers and walkers of all ages (and at least one dog) participated in the event, which kicked off the annual AppleFest celebration.
Team members of local sports teams ran along side participants pushing children in strollers. Many runners used phones to check their speed or listen to their favorite music as they progressed.
Below, Jeff Jones checks his watch as he nears the finish line of the Friends of Cumston Hall 2017 Applefest 5k.
Separated by a significant margin from the other runners, he crossed the finish line first with a time of 17 minutes and 36 seconds. (Photos by Elayne Bean)
