LEEDS — The Leeds Historical Society will host the Leeds Farm Fest, Saturday, Oct. 21.
Rural Leeds has a long history of agriculture, dating back to the 18th century, the historical society said in a news release.
The Farm Fest will feature Leeds farmers and woodsmen and women who will display their products and answer questions about their farms.
The event is designed for producers to share information regarding what they have to sell and to allow people to sign up to buy produce later in the season, but it won’t be an opportunity to buy and sell things that day. Exhibitors will range from a small sheep farm which produces breeding stock, meat, and fiber and knitted objects, to a grass-fed beef operation.
There will be an opportunity to sign up for a load of firewood, or to buy a share in a vegetable CSA.
This will be a great chance to meet Leeds’ agricultural community and learn about the wide variety items produced locally, the historically society said.
In addition, there will be music provided by the Sandy River 3, a Maine bluegrass band that includes Leeds resident Julie Davenport singing and setting the beat on the upright bass. Lunch will be available for purchase from Pinky D’s Poutine Food Truck. The Farm Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Leeds Community Church, 123 Church Hill Road. Admission is free.
