LEWISTON — Museum L-A is hosting “Graveyard Shift” — an event based on a short story by Stephen King — featuring a young worker who discovers a horrible secret in the basement of a decrepit Maine mill.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the museum, 35 Canal St.
Short and scary tours of the Bates Mill, where participants will explore hidden areas and hear the more frightening and gruesome stories from the past, will run every 15 minutes from 7 to 8 p.m.
A dramatic reading by local performer Mike Miclon of Buckfield is scheduled for approximately 8 p.m. and will conclude around 9:30 p.m.
“With his many theatrical skills and creative talents, Mike will bring a level of intimidating scariness that is not for the faint of heart,” noted Kathy Becvar, director of development for Museum L-A. The stories contain mild language and are more suited to an adult audience; this is a PG-13 event.
Before, during and after the performance, guests can enjoy seasonal refreshments and a cash bar. The cost is $15 per person, which includes tours, the performance and refreshments. Limited seating is available., and those interested are encouraged to make reservations in advance by calling 207-333-3881.
Net event proceeds will support the creation of Museum L-A’s Kids Innovation Station, which will offer children an opportunity to learn through play. Sponsorship opportunities are available for this event. Museum L-A’s hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Special tour requests and large group tours outside of these hours are available by appointment.
