Cancer Resource Center to host turkey trot, seeks sponsors

Sep. 212017

NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine will host its inaugural fundraising event, The Turkey Trot 4 Hope, on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, in downtown Norway.
The event, which is a four-mile run or walk, will bring families together on one of the most popular running days while raising much needed funds to support people in our area facing cancer, a news release from the organization said.

With more than 200 participants expected to run, jog and walk through the streets of Norway and by the picturesque Norway Lake, the 2017 Turkey Trot 4 Hope is the beginning of an annual event, organizers said, adding that they are also seeking sponsors for the race. “Supporting a sponsorship is a significant way to demonstrate your commitment to the center,” they said.
Sponsorship opportunities are available at four levels. Anyone interested should contact Barbara Deschenes at 207-739-9612 or call Sherri Otterson at the center at 207-890-0329.
Those who want to participate can register online at runsignup.com/Turkeytrot4hope. Pricing is family friendly and there is a discount for those who register before Oct. 31.
The Cancer Resource Center is at 199 Main St., in the Stephens’s Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Thursday and Friday, and offers a variety of programs as well as comfort items free to anyone affected by cancer.
