Save Your Breath 5K run in Augusta Nov. 5

AUGUSTA — Free ME from Lung Cancer is hosting the sixth annual Save Your Breath 5K run or walk Sunday, Nov. 5, beginning at the YMCA, 21 Union St. Race packets and event-day registration starts at 7 a.m. at the Y, and the event gets under way following at 7:45 a.m. ceremony.

The runners will have a scenic morning run along the Kennebec Rail Trail, beginning at the YMCA, traveling down to Hallowell Granite Park and return. The walkers will have a beautiful stroll in Capitol Park, 33 Union St.

The run will be timed by Back 40 Timing Company. Monetary awards will be given to the first three men and the first three women over the finish line. There will be a children’s fun run for those age 7 and under, hosted by the Children’s Discovery Museum, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The children will receive a medal for their participation. Some area vendors and tables include Mercy Hospital, WGME 13 and Fox 23, Augusta Fire Department, Hannaford’s Nutritionist and Chris Sementelli, sports medicine.
