Monmouth businesses, organizations collecting for hurricane victims

Sep. 92017

MONMOUTH — Businesses and organizations in town will have collection cans out through Sept. 30 to help victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
The effort is sponsored by Neighbors Helping Neighbors, which holds community suppers at the Packard Center November through April, and The United Church of Monmouth.

All of the money collected will go directly to relief aid through United Methodist Committee on Relief, according to Jeremiah Smith, head of the United Church of Monmouth Council. Checks are also accepted, and can be sent to the United Church of Monmouth, P.O. Box 217, Monmouth, ME 04259.
The cans will be gathered on Sept. 29 and brought to the AppleFest on Saturday, Sept. 30, in downtown Monmouth, so those attending can also donate.
