Donations sought for hospice yard sale

LEWISTON – Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice is seeking donations for its annual yard sale to benefit Camp Dragonfly for grieving children. The yard sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at AHCH’s office at 15 Strawberry Avenue.

Items may be dropped off at there Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The organization cannot accept donations of televisions, mattresses, used upholstered furniture, stuffed animals, clothing or footwear.

All proceeds will benefit a one-day camp offering assistance to youth who have experienced a loss and helps families feel comfortable having difficult conversations with children and other family members about death and loss. The camp also helps children who are living with a family member who has a terminal illness. There is no charge to attend Camp Dragonfly.

“Camp Dragonfly offers children who are grieving a chance to recognize that they do not have to go through grief alone and that there are many resources available to help them through the loss they are experiencing,” said Kenneth Albert, president and CEO of AHCH. “Community support of the yard sale helps ensure that we can continue to offer this important program at no cost to the participants.”
The organization also is accepting baked goods, produce, handmade crafts and canned items for the bake sale/farmers’ market being held the same day. These donations will be accepted Sept. 8. For more information, please contact Kate Sicotte at 207-777-7740, extension 1951.
