WATERVILLE — Awana youth ministries for ages 2 through eighth grade will be held from 6 to 7:45 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning Sept. 6, at Kennebec Valley Baptist Church, 91 Marston Road. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.
Awana is an international non-denominational nonprofit ministry committed to helping churches and parents raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ, said Patrick Simpson, of Oakland, leader of the ministry.
The curriculum is age specific, with Simpson leading the four age levels between age 2 and sixth grade and youth pastor Josh Brooks leading the grades seven through 12 group.
Simpson says that a typical evening begins with music, Bible lessons, games, activities, snacks, scripture memory awards and recognitions. “All parents are invited to come to the last 10 minutes of each week’s program, when we recognize those youngsters who have earned awards and merit badges,” he said.
A 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday evening Bible study is also available for high schoolers. “We look forward to sharing Biblical precepts with youth in a venue of mutual fellowship and growth,” Brooks said.
