RANGELEY — Biologist and author Bernd Heinrich will speak about where our birds go, and why, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Rangeley Public Library.
Heinrich will discuss bird migration, patterns of movement, and why some bird are here one year, then not here another year. With an expertise in the area of behavioral ecology, Heinrich has authored many books, most recently “One Wild Bird at a Time: Portraits of Individual Lives,” and “The Homing Instinct: Meaning and Mystery in Animal Migration.”
Heinrich, a professor emeritus at the University of Vermont, now lives in a cabin in western Maine where he continues to pursue field work.
