Poland student donates to GAHS

LEWISTON — Charlie Boles of Poland recently presented the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave., with donations from his eighth birthday party. Charlie, a second-grade student at Poland Community School, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests generously donated pet food, treats, toys and pet supplies to help with the care of the thousands of unwanted animals the shelter helps each year.

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society provides a safe haven for more than 4,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area per year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens.
