Community Credit Union helps Leeds food pantry

Aug. 152017

LEWISTON — Community Credit Union in April presented a check for $500 to the Leeds Food Pantry, serving community members from Leeds Community Church. Nearly 150 individuals per month visit the food pantry, which also supplies the schools with food for their backpack program — sending food home weekly with 11 students. Leeds residents are welcome to reach out to the church or the Leeds Town Office at 207-524-5171 for more information on the food pantry program.

Community Credit Union participates in the Maine Credit Union League’s initiative known as the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. Maine Credit Unions have raised more than $7.2 million since 1990 to help end hunger in Maine. At the end of each year, all of the money raised by each individual participating credit union is given back to that credit union to be distributed to hunger organization in their community.

In 2016, participating Maine Credit Unions raised a new record total of $674,000 for the Ending Hunger Campaign. For more information, log onto www.communitycreditunion.com.
