RAYMOND — Raymond Village Community Church, United Church of Christ, 27 Main St., Raymond Center, invites all who are interested to a virtual pilgrimage through the spiritually-rich Celtic traditions of Scotland, Ireland and Wales Sundays, Aug. 13 through Sept. 10, from 10 to 11 a.m.
This new worship series is focused on Celtic Christianity, a form of Christian faith originating during the early Middle Ages in the Celtic-speaking world (principally Scotland, Wales, and Ireland). “This way of looking at the world — tied to nature and the wild beauty of Ireland and the British Isles, mystical, and powerfully poetic — resonated with the ancient Celts and continues to resonate with post-modern Christians today,” explained Pastor Nancy Foran. “Celtic blessings and prayers will anchor our worship, revealing a sense of the holy in every moment, in every thing, in every person.”
The services will include Celtic music and familiar hymns that some may be surprised to find are sung to Celtic tunes. The church is located a quarter-mile off Route 302, five miles north of Routes 115/35 in North Windham.
The themes for each Sunday include:
* Aug. 13 — “Through the Day: Celebrating God’s Presence in Each Moment.”
* Aug. 20 — “Holy Moments: Celebrating the Gifts of Life.”
* Aug. 27 — “Seasons and the Passing of Time: Journeying Through the Year.”
* Sept. 3 — “Heart Prayers; Blessing the World.”
* Sept. 10 — “God is Here: Celebrating Sacred Presence.”
