LEWISTON — The Lewiston Police Department has received two calls in as many days reporting two separate people bitten by an aggressive fox. The first report Aug. 10 occurred in the area of Hackett Street, and the second call was received Aug. 11, having occurred on Willow Circle.
The police department would like to urge citizens in those areas to be cognizant of this and of their family pets. Any sightings of the fox should be reported either to the Lewiston Police Department or the Maine Warden’s Service.
If the fox is seen, persons should not approach it, as it may be rabid. Please contact LPD dispatch at 207-784-6421 ext. 1, or the Maine Warden Service at 207-657-3030.
