PARIS — Free concerts all day Saturday, Aug. 12, will be featured at this year’s Paris Hill Music Festival.
The 30-minute shows will be on The Common at the top of Paris Hill, next to the First Baptist Church of Paris, rain or shine. The will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 5 p.m.
Some of the musicians signed up to perform on Saturday of the four-day festival are Elizabeth Roth on the harp, Jennifer McMann on guitar, the Mollyockett Chorus, Toned Out, Lindsey Montana, and the Milltown Road Show. Others will be joining these folks for a full day of varied genres of music.
The musicians are donating their time and talents to benefit the festival. All donations for the day will go 50 percent for future festivals, 30 percent to student music scholarships, and 20 percent to the renovation and maintenance of the First Baptist Church meeting house. Music students from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School will help with the event and also hold a bake sale.
Craft and food vendors will also participate in Saturday’s all-day event. Among the vendors will be Harpley Slides from Winthrop, which makes handmade glass guitar slides and picks. They are the only ones in the United States that makes these products. Space is still available for more vendors.
The concerts will be under a larga major tent, but bring your own comfortable chair. Parking for the all day event will be free.
The festival runs Thursday, Aug. 10 to Sunday, Aug. 13 and includes 7 p.m. performances by Schooner Fare, the DaPonte String Quartet, Noel Paul Stookey. The 3 p.m. Sunday concert is the Chris Humphrey Jazz Quartet.
