Dog Not Gone, No Fly Zone outlet store opens in Skowhegan

SKOWHEGAN — Dog Not Gone and No-Fly Designs, the line of products made with No Fly Zone fabric that repels ticks, black flies, mosquitoes and biting insects, can now be bought by walk-in customers at the company’s Skowhegan factory.
The company, started by Bill and Julie Swain in their home in Kingfield in 2004, has operated out of the former Dirigo Stitching Co. mill in Skowhegan since 2014.

The permethrin-treated fabric is insoluble, providing durable and long-lasting protection up to 70 washings. All the company’s products are made in Maine and include dog vests and outerwear for adults and children.
“Our apparel is outerwear and designed to be worn over your clothing on an as-needed basis,” said Julie Swain.
The entire line is featured in the Dog Not Gone Factory Outlet store, 40 Dane Ave., which recently opened because of high walk-in demand, the Swains said.
The tick repelling apparel can also be found at New England Pet & Farm Feed stores, L.L. Bean, select Tractor Supply Company and Walmart stores and at www.dognotgone.com.
