CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Mad Science is coming to the Carrabbassett Valley Public Library on July 26.
The “Engineering a Better World” show will celebrate the summer reading program at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the library, 3209 Carrabassett Drive.
The show, for all ages, will allow participants to step into the shoes of engineers, in a program designed to launch children’s imaginations into the boundless field of engineering.
“Captivating demonstrations and interactive experiments will inspire our next generation to think about how engineers design things to make the world a better place,” said a news release from the library. “We will have a smashing good time with the engineering design process as children team up with fellow civil engineers to build a 6-foot roman arch. We will even reach beyond the sky to explore aerospace engineering with an explosive rocket launch.”
The show also includes an intelligent robot that has Kung Fu and yoga moves, oozing chemical reactions and a demonstration of a space age polymer, a ‘sparking’ demonstration to electrify creativity and an experiment with alternative energy.
“Children are our future, building a better world can must with sparking their imagination and getting them excited about engineering today,” said organizers.
