AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Valley YMCA child care center will play host for a variety of fundraisers throughout the summer to add some unique upgrades to its current playground space, including elements integrating art, music and dramatic play. One of those fundraisers will a “paint night” by Art Party Maine at the YMCA Augusta campus July 20.
On board to collaborate on a portion of the Maine-themed playground is the crew from the popular television program “Maine Cabin Masters.” In the fall, they plan to build a miniature, simplified version of a Maine cabin, which will serve as the primary attraction of the new outdoor space.
Learning Center Director Lissa Niederer hopes their involvement will help inspire additional support from the community. “The vision is to create an outdoor area that not only provides opportunity for movement and physical development, but also encourages creativity, confidence, and learning,” she explained. “Donations and volunteers are always appreciated. We are very excited to team up with ‘Maine Cabin Masters.’ We can’t wait to see how they apply their creativity to the playground.”
