RANGELEY — Actress, author and storyteller Susan Poulin will be at the Rangeley Public Library Tuesday, July 18, at 6 p.m. to read from her newest book,”The Sweet Life,” featuring her alter-ego Ida LeClair. In her latest “self-help” book, Poulin returns to the fictional Maine town of Mahoosuc Mills and the oh-so-familiar world of popular character Ida LeClair as she offers advice on how to keep relationships fresh and life as sweet, simple and easy as possible.
This time Poulin, writing again as LeClair, the ground-breaking character she introduced on stage in 1997, delivers “The Sweet Life: Ida LeClair’s Guide to Love and Marriage.” In “The Sweet Life,” Poulin takes readers on a lifelong journey from dating to marriage to the elder years. In this semi-serious self-help book, she alternates between sassy stories and useful advice, offering her readers helpful guidance on topics like dealing with the death of a spouse, dating after divorce and buying the right bra. It’s all written in the now classic and beloved voice of LeClair — whip-smart yet down-to-earth — striking the perfect balance between humorous and heartfelt.

“The Sweet Life,” published by Islandport, came out in June 2016. Poulin’s first book, “Finding Your Inner Moose,” also published by Islandport Press, was released in 2012.
Poulin introduced the ground-breaking stage character Ida LeClair in the original 1997 stage production, “Ida: Woman Who Runs With the Moose,” for which she won Seacoast Media Group’s Spotlight on the Arts Award for Best Play and Best Actress.
Since her initial success, Poulin has written two books, “Finding Your Inner Moose” and “The Sweet Life,” as her alter-ego and penned additional stage plays, including “Ida’s Havin’ a Yard Sale” and “A Very Ida Christmas.” She also writes the popular humor blog, “Just Ask Ida,” and her vocal stylings can be heard regularly on her podcast of the same name.
Over the past two decades, she has entertained thousands of people from Maine to Minneapolis with her unique brand of wit and wisdom.
