Musical favorite returns to Franco Center

Jul. 62017

LEWISTON — Popular singer and pianist Louis Philippe will perform at the next “La Rencontre” (The Gathering) Thursday, July 13, beginning at 11:25 a.m. at the Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St.
The cost of the meal and the program is $10 per person; doors open at 10 a.m. Guests may contact the office for reservations at 207-783-1585. E-mail reservations may be sent to boxoffice@francocenter.org.

La Rencontre is in no way restricted to French-speakers or even those of Franco descent. All are welcome to attend this fun monthly meal and event, as long as spots remain open. The home cooked meal includes meatloaf, mashed potatoes and glazed carrots, with apple pie and ice-cream for dessert.

After the meal, musician and vocalist Louis Philippe will present an encore performance. Philippe will present French and English songs with an occasional intermingling of humor. A Lewiston native now based in Portland, he is the brainchild of Reindeer Records — a small, grass-roots label that continues to bring music, business experience and career exposures to entry-level artists. Louis Philippe has a number of CDs available, including “La Vie En Rose – A Tribute to Piaf” and “Father Frenchie comes to Lewiston.” Several raffle prizes will be drawn at the end of the event.

The Gendron Franco Center is handicapped accessible and is located at Cedar and Oxford streets in the “Little Canada” section of Lewiston, just across the Bernard Lown Peace Bridge from New Auburn. The event is sponsored by TV5Monde USA.
