LEWISTON — Lewiston-Auburn Optimist Club President George Mathews presents guest speaker Shelley Kruszewski, conservation director for the Androscoggin Land Trust, with a copy of the Optimist Creed.

Kruszewski, at the June meeting of the club, discussed some of the projects that the land trust is working on, such as improving the trails and access to Sherwood Forest, the learn to fish program, working with the Boy Scouts and Androscoggin Community Gardens, among others.

ALT preserves more than 5,000 acres of land, including 10 miles of Androscoggin riverfront, to benefit the natural and human communities throughout 19 cities and towns within the Androscoggin River watershed, from Jay to Lisbon.
