AUBURN — Betty Balderston will be the featured speaker for the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club Thursday, July 13, at The Village Inn restaurant, 165 High St. Balderston is the Elder Abuse Prevention Advocate at Legal Services for the Elderly in Augusta, a non-profit organization providing free and confidential legal services to Maine residents age 60 and older on a statewide basis since 1974.
Balderston is focused on raising public awareness about the serious problem of elder abuse. Her position is supported by a one-year grant from the John T. Gorman Foundation. Prior to holding her current position, Balderston worked at LSE for 15 years fighting fraud and abuse as the statewide coordinator for the Maine Senior Medicare Patrol, educating consumers about Medicare and MaineCare and how they can help identify and reduce errors, fraud, waste and abuse.
