Gervin ‘Bucky’ Palmer
1920-2017

LIVERMORE — Gervin “Bucky” Palmer, 96, of Livermore passed away Sunday, June 11 at his home. He was the last of 11 children in his family. Bucky was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Starks, the son of Ernest and Alura Palmer. He graduated from Dixfield High School. Bucky served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Marjorie Hobart in 1941; she died in 1997.

In September 1998 he married Donna Hannon in Livermore Falls. He worked and retired from the paper mill in Rumford. Bucky was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed photography and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed traveling to Pemaquid Beach with his wife Donna and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Palmer, of Livermore; a son, Jeffery Palmer, and his companion, Dianne Hirsh, of Dixfield; a daughter, Gaynelle Becker, and husband Raymond of New Gloucester; three step-sons, Randy Shaffer and wife Jane of Portland, Rick Shaffer and wife Cathy of Bowdoinham, and Rusty Shaffer; a step-daughter, Terry Hannon Sherett and husband Steve of Monmouth; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Marjorie Palmer, daughter, Nedra, and two sons, Weston and Jimmy Palmer.
