Patriot girls do well in in Class B track meet

YARMOUTH — The Gray-New Gloucester girls team finished fifth overall at the Class B State Championships held at Yarmouth High School on June 3. There were 28 high schools competing.

Madison Post won first place in the 200-meter dash (26:03) and second in the 100 meters (12:74). The 4-by-100 relay team won that event in a time of 51:33. The foursome changed a little during the season. The athletes participating in the relay during the spring were Jaley Martin, Eliza Larrivee, Lindsay Pierce, Erica Schlichting, Madison Post, Jasmine French, and Madison Garcia.

Emma MacCallum was third in the shot put, with a throw of 36 feet and seventh place in the discus, with a throw of 94 feet, 7 inches.

Joseph Gurney, of the Gray-New Gloucester boys team, was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 43 feet, five inches. The boys’ team finished 23rd.

Greeley, of Cumberland, won the girls title and Winslow won the boys.
