BANGOR — The greater Gardiner community is coming together for its first annual American Red Cross Gardiner Community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Grace Community Chapel, 187 Lewiston Road in West Gardiner. This is the first year for this blood drive and plans are to make it an annual event on the first Saturday in June, according to a news release from the Red Cross.
The Gardiner community continually shows a dedication to helping others and when blood drive sponsors reached out to area businesses they received donations of 48 gift cards to be used as giveaways at the blood drive, the release said.
The first 48 donors will have the opportunity to reach into a bucket and draw a gift card.
The months, from Memorial Day through Labor Day are among the most challenging for the Red Cross to maintain an adequate blood supply for patients in need, the Red Cross said. “You never know when a friend, family member or even you will need blood.”
