WINTHROP — Winthrop Grade School fifth-graders will take on the school staff in a benefit game sponsored by the Winthrop Parent Teacher Association.
The fundraiser will support the purchase of classroom speakers and school-wide pedometers for school. The basketball game will include four quarters of basketball, with each fifth-grade class playing one quarter. The fourth quarter will be a “knockout game,” in which anyone can play for a small fee.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and the game is at 6:30 Thursday June 8, at the Winthrop Grade School gym, 23 Highland Ave. Admission at the door is $1 per person. There is a $5 fee to play in the knockout game. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and concession. The PTA is looking for prizes and sponsorships.
